Marine Drive

Mumbai is a great city, undoubtedly. Its most prominent landmark is the Marine Drive. I would prefer to rename it as Marine Walk, since a walk down the 3 km strech is something one can cherish for a life time, specially when it is early monsoon, and you are with your special one. :)

A lot of movies have been shot here. It serves as an ideal place to shoot romantic scenes.

Marine Drive is also known as the Queen's Necklace because if viewed at night from an elevated point anywhere along the drive, the street lights resemble a string of pearls, forming a necklace. It is also the world's largest viewing gallery and hence has been a host to a number of events that take place along the promenade.

The promenade is lined with palm trees. At the northern end of Marine Drive is Chowpatty Beach. This is a popular beach famed for its Bhel puri (local fast food). Many restaurants also line this stretch of the road. Most of the buildings which were built by wealthy Parsis sport an art deco look that was popular in the 1920s and 1930s.

It has some of the most prominent landmarks of India such as two of most famous stadiums in the world, the Wankhede and the Brabourne, the Air India Building and Oberoi  - Trident, some of the best located hotels.
